Project on Education for Sustainable Development
Following recommendations from UNESCO, OMEP has been actively involved in several projects related to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Education for Sustainable Development – OMEP (omepworld.org) ‘One of the basic premises of Early Childhood Education is that children bring a solid and efficient contribution to society. Children are agents of change in that if they work in collaboration with adults, we are able to see projects and practices for Sustainable Development multiply in an impressive way’ (World Organization for Early Childhood Education, Education for Sustainable Development). The Canadian Committee can endorse these goals while adding its contribution. In Quebec, many ESD initiatives taking place in early childhood centers (CPE) are exemplary. OMEP-Canada has joined forces with the CPE Franquette La Grenouille with the objective of highlighting their achievements with regards to ESD in which both the children and the adults are involved.
